AVI is usually a video file... Windows Media Player, Real Player, Quicktime player... anything capable of playing video should be able to play it for you...
I would suggest using VLC media player... its free... just search yahoo or download.com for it

avi file is movie file. It can be opened using the vlc player or window media player. download the "codecs" and u can play different movie files if u have any problem in runing it.
