have one phone here. The sound is very noticeable. There is often a lot of clicking on my line. What are some explanations for this?

I have seen some of the other electrical questions, and knew I was not qualified to give advice, so I passed. This is way past coincidence, and though it may still just be related to minor electrical problems, there are other possibilities that you need to rule out. My oldest daughter was married to a jealous control freak that also happened to have above average skills with anything related to electrical work. She would talk to me frequently and it almost always sounded like someone was on an extension. We would both be alone, and knew nobody could be picking up another phone. One day she was in the garage, and saw things had been moved around. Her husband had installed a new phone jack and a voice activated recorder. This pretty much sealed the end of the marriage. He was going crazy, because the worst he was getting was her chatting with me or maybe a girlfriend. As it turns out, he was the cheat. I am not at all implying that is your situation, but check into it, like now!
Edit: She had the clicking, too. Could even be a freaky landlord, if you are leasing.

Judging by your other questions, you have some strange things going on where you live.
Have you called you phone company? They can run test through your lines to see if there is anything wrong. Also, maybe you have a frayed line outside or something loose on the lines. Do you have digital phone or regular phone? Regular phone is prone to line damage because it goes all the way to your telephone station/pole. If you have digital it just goes to your cable modem inside your house, less chance for problems.
Someone may be listening in I would call the phone company and ask for an explanation,or are you on a party line ha ha I think some rural areas still have them.Or maybe you just need an inline filter cheap to buy it just plugs in the phone jack and you plug your phone in it.Hope this helps
Your phone has been tapped. That is one explanation, anyway. Other explanations might include loose connections, and other technical problems. The best thing to do is to call the service department of your phone company, and have them come out and check. This may or may not be free, depending on your service agreement.
too many spooky things going on at your house (from your past questions) either someone is trying to drive you crazy or your place is HAUNTED. call ghostbusters or move out.
You should probably discuss this with your telephone provider. You may have a party line, something not found much these days, but it may still exist in a few areas. You also may have problems with static in your telephone lines.
It is also possible that someone may have tapped your phone line.
Generally it is a good idea to consider all telephone conversations subject to being eavesdropped unless you have a secure line.
Poor service. OR Maybe has your phone line bugged,,,, lol
